My firm has a slightly different structure: analyst -> associate -> manager -> Sr manager -> director -> MD
I made it from 1st year analyst to manager in 3 years (which could be our record), should get to Sr manager at 5-6 years total. Took lots of commitment, positioning myself in the right place at the right time, and leaning in (among others). I’d be lying if I said it was all skill or all luck - it humbly takes both.

In our company, 5. But I saw firsthand that those 5 years weren't a walk in the park. I definitely am not suited to dedicate myself like that (nights and weekends were involved).
In my company, I saw a girl go from analyst to manager in 3 years just because it was a really small company and she made big moves that really helped the company, so they wanted to make sure she would stay longer.

8-10 years at mine.
I’ve seen some go from analyst to VP in as little as 4 to 5 years, but that’s usually a combo of killer performance, strategic networking, and being in the right place at the right time. It’s definitely not the norm, but with focus and the right opportunities, fast tracks do happen
