Would you mind sharing what skills you were tested for in the interview process? SQL and product sense suffices at most companies but I’ve heard Google tests on advanced stats concepts and python.

Depends on your subset of biz ops. I’ve seen people use it to skip level and take on director or higher level jobs. Recently someone I worked with got tapped to be the CEO of a GCP centric consulting startup

Yeah it’s usually a skip level effort.

I wouldn’t say it’s not a terminal role—it’s terminal for plenty of people all the way up to L8/L9 and much more so even at L5/L6. You can be an S&O manager forever if you want.
Product is a desired move but typically happens for people earlier on in their career—harder to move as a senior L7 laterally over.
I’d say that moving to a high growth startup as a P&L owner or director/manager (depending on your YOE) is an ideal exit opp. If interested in switching functional areas, moving to Product is an interesting path but will most likely decrease your comp as you’ll most likely downgrade in level
