I’d choose JOB B.

likefunny

What?

Just posted the details below...I was limited by some character count.

JOB A
- SVP in an agency, a client-facing role
- 4-8 direct + indirect reports, so day-to-day is more managerial
- ~230k TC
- 100% remote but expect to work ~50 hrs, including some out-of-state traveling once every couple month
- Unlimited PTO
- Not many learning opportunities, somewhat boring tasks
- Average colleagues, harder tasks will require many rounds of hand-holding your direct reports
- A hands-on culture, the new boss will like to oversee the work, especially on important projects
- Somewhat a high-stress and very deadline-driven environment
- Better upward growth opportunities for titles and comps, basically a guaranteed ED promotion in 3-4 years if you keep doing good work. No peer competition currently.

I would go with A. Back office won't help your career unless you want to stick with it.

Do you have kids and/or are burnt out on longer hours?

I’d take B unless you are really driven or want to take true advantage of fully remote

I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.

For next year my goal increased by 2.5X, and less of what I bring in counts towards that target. I really enjoy my job but I will essentially be getting a large pay cut. Lost in what to do besides quit??

Did an interview yesterday that was supposed to be behavioral, but turned out to be more like the case interviews I did in undergrad. I think I showed off my business knowledge, but he kept harping on my lack of an official framework (vs me saying "I'd explore it from different stakeholder perspectives: customer, line employee, management"); pretty sure he considered it a failure.
