If you live in the USA, maternity leave is not mandated by US Law. You State may have specific maternity leave laws, but in most cases eligibility is only determined by company policy.
If you live in Europe, most, if not all, European countries have maternity leave requirements, but you would have to check with your HR department or your government officials for details.
Ask your company what they provide. It differs by country. In Canada it’s 1 year and you can stay on unpaid leave for another year and your job is secured. Well ‘a job’ is kept for you. Might not be the one you had before.
I would go to HR at your company and ask them because its different for every company. They should be able to provide you with the policy for the company that you work at.
