When you hit FIRE number, how do you switch that brain off from work benefits? By my count I’d get approximately $60k value of health insurance, 401k employer contributions, etc.

It feels bad we are just leaving money on the table 😓. Or is this where coastFIRE comes into play where you just take a random job but you cruise day to day?

There's no right answer - if you don't mind what you do, you could keep going at your job and take advantage of those benefits. If you don't like what you do, but do want to keep working and receiving benefits, look at lower stress, easier, possibly more fun work options that will give you benefits.

I'm currently part time at my corporate job (with all benefits) and building up my own company with the rest of my time. I had put in notice to leave completely, but they asked me to stay on for pay and benefits I was happy with for work I enjoyed doing. If it has been a bad deal, I would have walked away. I'm not anywhere near ready to fire, but I have gotten to a place where I feel like I can take the risk of starting my own company.

Just take a random job that is flexible and gives you those same benefits.

Advice and tips for a first time rental property investor?

I am 24 saving up for my first property to purchase at the end of 2021 / early 2022 in the Long Island, NY area.

I’d like to save up around $50K in my HYSA for a property <$400K in LI. Does this sound reasonable?

Does anyone have any advice on investing in the LI area (best location, SFH v MFH) or just general first time rental property buying advice?

Thanks all

Recently switched jobs and had several thousand available to rollover into my new 401K. Also just got married/had a wild bachelor party/overspent on honeymoon, which led to me having about the same amount in high interest credit card debt. Definitely feel like it’s a one time thing and I know how to budget better for trips now. So, my question is, should I use my old 401K amount to just pay off my debt, taking the 10% hit in penalties, or should I roll it over to my new employers 401K?

Potentially dumb question here: I am starting law school soon and will not be employed (net income of $0 assuming I don’t get a good summer internship next summer). I’d just rebuy all of the same stocks immediately… am I missing something?
