Hi Everybody,
I'm currently working as an outsource in Rapid Metro as Technical Assistant/Civil. I earned a Master degree in Water Resource Engineer after B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Due to Covid 19 I took job back in Civil sector even though I have a masters degree in WRE. It's been almost 6 months of constant applying and rejection and still I'm nowhere close to a job in my dream branch which is the Water sector.Im hopeful that through this portal I may find an entry level position in water

For the US, the aim to prevent pay discrimination and promote pay equity by ensuring that job offers are based on an applicant's qualifications and the market value of the role, rather than their past earnings.
I would suggest that you advise (in advance, on application) of the salary that you are looking for instead? This may help you to avoid any awkwardness, or lying in interview, if you are not able to say to the interviewer that they are not meant to measure your salary history.
If you say on application what salary you are looking for, then at interview you are questioned or this is raised by the manager, I would then advise the recruiter that they are not following laws and a Manager asked you about your salary history. When a company is reminded that practice isn't working, or their practice is illegal, they generally sharpen practice quickly.
This hasn't happened to me, but I would probably do the same as you. Yeah, you should be able to call them out without fear of repercussions, but that's not how the world works. My guess is if you'd push back, you'd have zero chance of getting the offer.

In the UK you're not allowed to ask if they plan on having children. I haven't my been directly asked but my last interview it was bought up in conversation as general chat.
