I don't know enough about the law to say definitively, but if it isn't one, it's pretty darn close. I'm guessing their lawyers will point to the existence and popularity of TikTok and Snapchat to argue it isn't, who knows how it'll actually play out though. I personally don't care much either way.
I haven't been following the case, from what little I know they're digging up the acquisition of Instagram a dozen years ago. It's like the tech industry equivalent of when they find, in a vacant lot in Queens, some mob associate who never came home decades ago. Anyway, while I'm not entirely familiar with the case, it doesn't seem to be a monopoly in the classic sense. People don't need to use social media, and there are plenty of other options not controlled by Meta. I'm not a fan of Zuck or his company, but I don't think the case makes a huge amount of sense in today's world.
No, it's not a monoploy, plan and simple. Meta has tons of competition and sites like TikTok and YouTube have larger shares in the video social media space
