While I currently work the bakery department, I was a full-time cashier at my employer for the first 9 years.

One Sunday, a woman came up to my register with a HUGE catering order. We're talking like $1,700 worth.

She said she was paying cash. I'm thinking, "Cool, it'll be 18 $100 bills."

Nope. It was 4 $100 bills, the rest in TWENTIES. My head was spinning trying to count all of them to make sure she had given me enough... Afterward, took 5 minutes to mentally recharge

I worked at Rumjungle in Mandalay Bay back in the day. On big nights, we would put a bunch of 10-12 seat tables on the dance floor. There would usually be 4-6 servers in that section, and we would all pool on the same card. One night, everyone paid cash. My sales were over $10,000. It was insane. I must have had at least five grand in 20s. I had bills stuffed in both front pants pockets, both back pockets, and in all three pockets of my apron. I had nearly $15,000 on me by the end of the night.

In the wrong place at the wrong time:
The guy in front of me in line decided to order 5 cheese burgers and fries at the KFC during lunch rush and he wasn't happy when they told him they don't have burgers at this place..LOL..what a day it was ...I thought he was being funny,,i couldn't stop laughing..and he got more out of shape....they dont train to deal with this type of customer. ...

When I was 16, I worked at Friendlys. A customer ordered a raw hamburger, RAW! Because I was young and inexperienced I went to my manager. He said we couldn't do that. The customer was angry!

I had a vendor (that may have had mafia ties) do a week-long promotion in our store. At the end of the week, we had to pay for his product in cash. And he wanted large bills.

I had to save the deposits for a few days, then I had to go to the supermarket and ask to buy their large bills (I've asked them for change quite often, but the first time I asked for large bills). I had pay him out like $20-30k in the largest bills I could get.

Set sales records for the week, but definitely a stressful week that I hope to never have to do again.

Oh wow, that’s a cash-counting workout if I’ve ever heard one. No wonder you needed a mini mental break afterward!

As a young child I thought it would be hysterical to give a cashier whom was an adult all my small change for my five and dime purchase. What few realize what goes around in life comes around as it's the human condition and as an adult I decades after learnt sadly first hand how not funny that was
I don't deliberately go out of my way to complain nor make anyone's life more difficult but I will go out of my way to thank both that person assisting me in whatever capacity they are in as well as those in their supervisory or managerial capacity
It does make a difference & I sincerely hope any one reading this will hopefully considering doing the same. Make someone's day with a warm smile
A genuine how are you today. We all can make a difference without having to feel depleted at the end of ones work day, or with very poor customer service.

Got a 30% salary bump, via an offer for Senior Consultant S&O from Deloitte. Currently underpaid at EY Advisory. I'm MBA and this year is my promotion year at EY for Manager. What to do? Get demoted and move to D? Or counter at EY? Even if EY matches my salary, and promote me to Manager, I will be an EY Manager with a Deloitte SC salary, and probably won't be able to go to D in the future. What do you think? I have built up a good relationship with my Partner and SMs at EY though.

Am I particularly uptight, or is writing meant to be done alone, without a partner talking to you? With past partners, we chat through script notes and then I go off to execute. Current partner likes to sit and chat as I write. To me, writing is crafting a conversation. So I can’t talk to you and simultaneously talk to this audience. Of course I can just say “I’m gonna go write.” But since we’re both CD level, I’m like…is this his first rodeo? Maybe other writers are different though.

Once when I was waiting tables, I had a guy pay me cash. The change was 45 cents, which I didn't give back to him because like who wants that. He then asked where the change was, and when I explained that I didn't give back the loose change, he made a big stink about how dollars and cents matter and didn't leave me a tip. He was a republican staffer on capitol hill.
