Take the D offer if EY doesn't counter. Most likely they will not counter unless you are 4/5 rated for past 2-3 years so just be prepared. I am telling you from recent experience as I just gave notice as well.
In the early stages of your career, a 30% bump is valuable and will set the tone on salary for many many years to come. Assuming you stay with D for a while, it doesn't matter if you took a little longer to get to Manager.
M is equivalent to SC at Deloitte
D1 stop that BS.
Op personally I would love a higher position and higher salary. I like higher posn as I want to build my own team rather than serve another dimwit. I love my freedom. This leaves me with the option, if I were you to talk to EY and counter offered with salary and promotion promise. This however will change if I am tired of existing leadership, i hate the practice and don’t like workThen I will take the higher salary at Deloitte as after all cash is king. Just remember, based on what I have heard Deloitte is bit caustic than rest of the firms. Everything has to be balanced money, position and what are you learning ( and also network )
If you stay and get promoted, there's no guarantee it will be matched if you move shortly afterwards. Worst case it could also be viewed as you couldn't cut it as a mgr
Former Deloitte guy here, promotion are difficult at uncle D! It all boils down to your preference between designation and the $$. Also you will need some time settling into new firm and figuring out the culture and kinks.
Or get promoted, put in 6 months then make the move to D with manager. Best way to get $$$ you want
30% is a creditable move. If ey doesnt give 15%, take it. Your promotion to manager isnt guaranteed.
Are the levels actually equivalent at the two firms? From what I understand from FB, Deloitte seems to have an extra level that would make a manager at many firms equivalent to a SC at Deloitte Consulting.
Why not move, take the pay bump, grind out the year, then get promoted with a second bump?
Other big 4 only take 3 levels to get to manager. It takes 4 at Deloitte consulting. Thus, your Deloitte offer is technically both a title bump and a salary increase. On top of that, you’d be going from #3 out of 4 firm to #1. Only a fool would turn that down.
And what firm do you hail from Mr/Ms advisory consultant? Last I checked, one is either an Analyst, Associate or Consultant, not whatever the hell mix breed you are. Either you don’t even know the proper title structure/branding in your company or it must be no name.
Make manager first. Once your a manager you won't be anything less again. Go to Deloitte you will be put two years back minimum (tho with more money) and will still have to make manager there or anywhere else you go. And let's not even begin to talk about the decline you will have in your quality of life going there. Suck it up for the yr and make mgr. I speak from experience.
D has a better reputation than EY in most cases. Also it’s difficult to get a higher rank there when switching from EY, but vice versa is easier. Combine that with crAppy bonuses n promotions last year. Hope it helps
Get EY to give you adjustment now, get promotion, then go to D as mgr. You don't have to wait until Oct 1. Go to D over summer when it looks highly likely you'll get promoted. Use that as leverage to get in to D as mgr.
D2 don’t get frustrated by my displayed role. I love anonymity:).
Deloitte seniors are manager equivalent only if the rest of the big 3 people who are switching agrees. Once rest of them stops going your value proposition of equivalence of manager and seniors falls flat. I will never do that though I know people have stepped down. In this case i think its better for him to stick around after he gets some deal. But if op stick around here and doesn’t get raise or promotion next year then its not a good outcome either.
Curious... from what to what?
Which practice. I know d tech kinda respect ey tech.
Following
How much you making now?
I tried getting EY to match and no dice. 37% raise between EY and another big 4 with a title adjustment too
