exactly! i’d be up for promotion to principal at my new firm or go back to sba at mck, doesn’t sound like a good deal to me
absolutely not. there’s no control over the firm could have over what happens in the secondment to make such a system fair. lot of people go to nonprofits and such. lot of secondment folks wouldn’t really be deserving of the asc bump.
yeah i do. i wouldn’t minimize the impact of an mba, i know its a popular trope.
more importantly though the firm knows what it’s getting from an m7 mba. doesn’t know what it’s getting from someone’s secondment to unicef, as interesting and inspirational as that might be. the system would also break - everyone would choose to do that and the firm wouldn’t be getting what it’s paying for, which is people with newly minted degrees who are driven to excel fast after grad school.
SBA. Sucks. Gotta do an MBA if you want to be an Asc.
One weird thing is - if you do an international rotation you get promoted to ASC
