You don’t want to just become an AI expert and ride the wave?

Your best bet is to form a sufficiently convincing AI start-up/grift and get some of that VC money before everyone else catches on to what the models are capable of now.
Your friends got laid off for reasons directly attributed to AI? I find that hard to believe. Majority of layoffs are due to over hiring, a slow down in the economy, increased debt and higher interest rates.
Anthropic say Claude will kill software and SaaS, yet they continue to use Salesforce. Is AI going to create an enterprise database for you? These companies are hypocrites and are very good at sales and marketing. Why do they even have corporate functions within their own organisations if AI is so wonderful and does everything?
AI is undoubtedly a useful tool. It's great at consistently producing mediocre and average work - but it can do it relatively quickly. That's a good starting point, and offers automation opportunities. The economics of AI are major, major red flags. You have users paying $100/month but consuming $2000. Energy and capital costs are off the charts and create enormous continuous capex obligations -chips only have a life of 3 years. Nobody understands how consumption works and how much "work" a credit is doing. Claude is a major security threat, presenting all the attributes of malware. You think issues like this are going to be resolved in the short term and allow enterprise market penetration that results in swathes of the population being laid off?
I have a bridge to sell you.
Just finished an analysis of robotic tech, use cases, and product maps for the current market players. This is an update from a year ago and the progress is sobering. Youre right that the trades will likely be one of the last areas "threatened" but it is coming. Between range of motion, lifting capacity, learning, battery life, and fine motor skills its damn impressive. Here's one of the summary slides I built.

The blue-collar trades are probably the best for the next 8-10 years, assuming mechatronics / robotics will advance enough by then. Any other or specific candidates?
Also you undermine the power of labor unions which would not allow AI to replace their workers.
It won’t get approved
