Considering a change from audit (SM) to an advisory role - looking at a Director position within Strategy, Finance and Accounting M&A. [Insert typical “should I make the jump” question here]. I’m 3+ years to audit partner and weighing options and exhausted by omnipresent inspection risk and how this impacts day to day (and presume it will continue to get worse). Considering the advisory role 1) job security, 2) exit ops, 3) partnership ops. Anyone recently make a similar jump and could share?

Been a coach at the collegiate level for 6 years. Make a $65k salary. Want to leave coaching and break into sales/marketing/recruiting/consulting. I have ample leadership and recruiting experience with a strong work ethic.

I’m assuming I’m going to have to take a pay cut and start toward bottom of totem pole. Any recommendations/advice on roles to apply for since I’m new to the field? Would like to be in tech if possible in Charlotte, NC or remote.

Hello, after doing some research I believe I’m being underpaid. About 4 months ago HR did a market analysis for my role. They bumped my salary for about $2k. I’m a mid-level Executive assistant with 6 years of experience and currently supporting 5 executives at a fortune 50 company. One C level and 4 Vice Presidents. I’m currently making $61,000 with bonus included. Based on my research I should at least be making $71,400. I have a check in with my boss tomorrow and I am asking for a raise.

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. The billable hours and lack of work life balance are really getting to me and I am looking to switch to something else out of litigation, preferably in house. Recent lateral junior associate in brand new practice where I'm the only associate. I'm probably going to bill 1,500 hours max this year due to being very slow and taking time off for a delayed honeymoon which I disclosed during my interview process. I have been told my work product is good, I don't turn anything down, I participate in non-billable work, I'm responsive and I always let people know I'm available to help. Do I need to be worried about getting fired for low hours?

I have hit my wall. I cannot do public accounting any longer. I cannot deal with the constant focus on compliance, billable hour and the general unproductive behaviors/mindsets. I remember a day when we were here to help clients. Now I just feel like we are here to bill clients. I want to go help someone build something.
Now I just need to figure out how a director with a tax background can have transferable skills to something else...
