From what I’ve read, lockdowns only delay the inevitable and “zero COVID” is simply unrealistic and unattainable. Examples include Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand
As someone who lived in Singapore for almost a decade and now in DC, everyone is the same at the end of the day. Some are smarter but people are inherently selfish and it’s almost predicable that this was gonna happen

Opening back up before herd immunity is likely at least somewhat aggressive, but vaccination rates were stagnating and herd immunity is primarily going to be harder in the regions that were resistent to any ongoing restrictions to begin with.
That said, vaccination rates are higher here than Singapore and we have less exposure to the variants that are causing issues in Asia
Locking up is backwards?
Individual countries determine policies and respond based on their current facts and circumstances?
Singapore is geographically and economically close to India, which is suffering from a major outbreak - and is seeing increased community transmission domestically.
I'm not sure what part of this is backwards? If the numbers are getting worse, you take a step back.
