With how the economy is at the moment, many of us have two or more jobs. I secured a 2nd job about a month ago. I was forced to tell my new manager about my 1st job due to her asking me to do our 1x1's outside of my regular schedule. Her attitude towards me having another job wasn't pleasant, as it came back to me through a coworker. Is why it took me a few years to secure a good paying 2nd job?

For those that work multiple jobs, do you disclose it to the potential employers?

If I can avoid telling a potential employer i have a job I will. I have to make sure that I can swing the schedule around my first job or one job has to be remote. I don’t know why employers are surprised so many of us have to have multiple jobs, but they get really upset.

Most employment contracts have a clause asking you tell your employer. This is so they can check there is no conflict and for health reasons so you are not burnt out and unable to commit to your original role.

I always disclose it. I think it's important, and I don't want to be blindsided by taking a cavalier approach to employment and losing both jobs.

Is it irrational for me to get an “ick” for this?

I went on a “date” recently. I paid for the tab as they were going to the bathroom. As we were leaving they said “thanks for lunch” — I was hoping they’d at least ask to Venmo me half as a kind gesture. Following lunch we grabbed dessert. I was hoping they’d offer to cover dessert since I covered lunch but it didn’t happen.

I am fine w/ paying but I was hoping the gesture would at least be presented… am I crazy?
