Yep, agree with the above. People make career pivots all the time. Yes, it's harder in this market. But there are tons of people moving from gov to industry jobs (especially this year), so you just have to find a way to stand out and project confidence about your skill transferability
If you've got that many years of experience you've surely got some skills you can market. And that's the thing, you have to market them, and you have to be personable and show that you're eager to work. There's a lot of antagonism toward government workers these days, and that doesn't make it any easier to move to the private sector. But it just means you have to prove yourself worthy of having a company give you a chance. Turn that attitude around and go out there and crush it.
