Working in Finance has made me slightly better with my own money. I try to avoid credit card debt and save. I'm not perfect and I've faced setbacks but I feel like I'm doing okay. What's crazy to me is how many people make so much more than I do but are swimming in debt. Why are they doing it to themselves? It especially gets me when I see they work in finance as well 😂

My fiancé’s family has a vacation planned at the end of June in Florida (small beach town about 45 mins from PCB). We’d be flying from California if we decide to attend. His family doesn’t seem concerned (ugh whole other story) and the “rules” in Florida are relatively relaxed now (restaurants open etc). Any TIPS on “how to not give up on finding a job”. After many final rounds and ZERO offers, I’m on the edge. It’s a horrid feeling to endure and to end it seems.

4th year at a mid size PI firm. Got pulled from litigating MVAs to help this solo we hired start a med Mal/nursing home practice. 1 year in and it looks like I’m two steps backwards in terms of getting paid because we’re a year or more out from a lot of the fees hitting. I respect the solo a lot, he’s a mentor, but I’ve got kids and I gotta get paid. Trying not to burn bridges, but I can’t wait years to get cut in. Advice?

I need help figuring out if I’m being underpaid. I’m working in real estate private equity and I focus on fund models and property valuations. I’m currently at base $80k and 20% bonus. Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?

Should I decline the offer and ask to be considered for a higher role that better fits my qualifications? The offer I had was with a great bank but I'm overqualified for that. Its been hard to find a job because I dont have prior experiences.

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].

They all went really well and HR said I’ll most likely be moving forward to a site visit. But now my contact has ghosted me. After I made 3 outreaches he had his aa schedule time for two weeks out. Getting paid 85k base with 40k in bonus plus about 35k~ in OT.

Money isn’t everything but in my late 20s it feels like the only thing important right now.

WLB is next to zero as 60hr weeks are the minimum as of late. Management feels like they are trying to push a few of us out. Was told not to expect much come year end for comp. Any suggestions on finding a new role/pay expectations?

I’ve completed the first interview with the hiring manager and a colleague, and have been fortunate to get to the next stage but im unsure how to prepare. I’ve done the usual compentencies, strengths and weaknesses and company research. But I don’t want to fail at the last hurdle as I really like this company and it would be a dream to work there any support or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
