Living in Van. Previously lived in Toronto. Obviously rent prices are high as is cost of living. Generally go out and spend more often living in a city. Boyfriend and I on good salary but not saving much due to the above. Before we move home to our own country, we’d love to spend a year close to Vancouver where rent is cheaper, temptation is less, to save. My law school experience has built heavily around bankruptcy and tax. I’ve been interested in pursuing a tax LLM. Doing corporate bankruptcy now. Admittedly I like both fields. Can anyone share some insight and/or advice for pursuing the LLM?

Has anyone dealt with stuffing allocation in a non-hedge fund context? It seems even in the HF world the law is fuzzy in using aggregate reverse 704c principles in stuffing allocations. Like, sure, the market is there but no authority really blessed it (other than some Cravath partner’s article in Tax Notes in 2013). If we are talking asset class that isn’t really like marketable securities but might be able to treat it similarly solely by virtue of, say, valuation on a quarterly basis (contd)

Hi all! I’m applying to NYU tax llm and I’m pretty confident I can get in,but it’s unlikely I’ll receive a scholarship. I’m working at a non big4 consulting firm for about 1.5yrs now, doing mainly international with some M&A exposure. I want to do llm because I still want to shoot for biglaw. I have a small kid so it’ll be hard to do the program part time. Should I quit my current job and enroll full time? Meaning lose 1yr salary and taking on a job security risk. TIA!
