You make a pretty good point. There are managers who studied business in school and they may know a lot about the theory of management. But they've never done the day to day work that makes the company what it is, and there's no way they can understand what their employees experience. In fairness, some managers make an effort to know what's really happening, but too many, as you put it, just wonder why morale is low.

Exactly! Some really try, but unless you’re in it every day, it’s hard to really get it. It means a lot when they try though.
I've honestly recommended that before at our huge company/store meetings. In front of everybody, I encouraged the store manager to work a day as a cashier and see what it's really like. I feel like a lot of our recommendations for improvements would actually be listened to if they knew what we go through. He laughed it off like, "yeah, maybe!" But I don't think he'll actually do it. If he did, things would change around here.

So true! It’s always easy to laugh it off, but stepping into our shoes even for a day could open some eyes.
Thinking of the thick of it makes me know that it's worth the the end of it.

So true. being right in the middle really shows how tough it gets. Holding on to that “worth it” feeling is what keeps us going.
