You know the job market is rough when multiple experienced candidates are willing to jump through hoops just for a shot at a $5000 startup internship that's FT, hybrid, and with no guaranteed return offer.

Now we're even fighting for a chance to get "exposure"? Lol. ☠️

Market is brutally hard right now.

Internships have always been part of graduate program. It doesn’t matter what your experience level is. I took an internship when I did my mba way back with 4 YOE of pre MBA experience . Some were even unpaid.

Return offers were never guaranteed.

Startups are a great experience. I think it is very worthwhile jumping through the get that.

But job market is indeed very bad, but perhaps not in the context of what you are describing

like

I don't disagree! But this particular opportunity was an internship that people who already graduated also applied to, and it was a lengthy multi-round process: recorded behavioral answers in the written application; a 1+ hour interview; and a take-home assignment with high expectations.

Compared to prior years, I didn't expect that so many people would be willing to go through this intense of a process for this opportunity.

I took an unpaid internship for exposure and resume building reasons exactly 20 years ago.

I've been exploring exit opportunities for a few months and still holding out for the right opportunity. However, I've had A LOT of recruiters reach out to me for positions that are way below my current salary. They do the whole "your background and expertise is exactly what we're looking for" then turn around and offer a salary range that is 20k below my current level. My resume clearly says I've got 10yrs experience and an MBA. I **don't think* I should be getting offers of 80k-100k

I’m planning to apply to a masters program, which would kick off next fall, but need to stay where I am between now and then to be able to pay for school. Any tips on staying motivated to get the work done, or on seeking out new opportunities for growth, when you feel like you’ve plateaued?

I was just talking to a younger friend who goes to Cal and It seems like the kids these days hate FAANG or at least Amazon and Facebook are not desired at all. I personally don’t see too many issues working at either Amazon or Facebook because I work at Deloitte where I’m sure we have many questionable clients and worked in financial services before. Curious on whether people are thinking about the ethics of their exit company when deciding to move?
