Unless you are already MBB, it’s standard practice for them to demote you a level coming in. Personally, I don’t see the point of delaying coming in anyway.

I wouldn’t worry about pace of promotion. If you are killing it, you will get accelerated.
For the vast majority of people, they are barely able to keep up with the promotion schedule. It is very demanding.

Typically yes, MBB is generally good about flexing start dates and letting you defer.
However, right now is a crazy time and they are hiring to add capacity immediately, they’re all sold out, so they may push on you to start sooner.
Also depends what you plan to do during that time, there are things they won’t want you to do.
It’s most likely possible - just ask them and they’ll probably let you know which start dates they can offer - January is a pretty standard starting date 😊
Congrats!!! What will you do for the rest of the year?

I doubt it - MBB want personnel now is my guess. They could just hire another person on cycle by Jan
My current engagement (I don’t hate it) doesn’t end until fall 2021 and I want to take a break before starting a new job + including the holidays in Nov/Dec 2021. Are those good reasons or should I just dip my current project early?
Coach
Agreed - not a strong enough reason IMO. They want you to start generating revenue for them now...not a competitor
Would you be open to connecting? I’d love to hear about the interview process etc.
