1st day on a contract role in a Canadian city through a talent agency and I work for an international consultancy. Haven’t received the contract or job description yet. My rate was $72.25/hr (predecessor $70/hr). Asked before if $80/hr was possible; recruiter said it was already “$2.25 above predecessor.” I cover all taxes (~25–30%) and no benefits, plus a confidential 7% referral fee. Contract length 4-12 months. Should I try asking for a higher rate now, and how to do it tactfully? Too late?

The company KPMG was suppose to deduct my joining bonus and other things in final settlement. Last working day was last day of month , which means i got full salary.

Im currently going through industry change.
Im a pastry cook with 4yrs experience and the average salary start for this position is now at $22/hr here in vegas, especially in the strip. But cooking/baking is not my passion. So im changing into veterinary medicine and im seeing that the starting rate for a vet tech is around $16-18. Why is that?? Why are people in the vet med industry being paid so low?? Something needs to change. Labor of love aint enough for the people in this job.
