Short answer: nope!
Slightly longer answer: the senior position is something people can stay at their whole career if they want. can develop some sense of autonomy and actually be hands on with without having to do a lot of other tasks. I know seniors who have been at it for 20 years.
Source: Senior and have been 10 years total experience, I don’t really want to move up and give up more of my free time to agencies
There should be 2 tracks - 1) manager/leadership 2) craft/expertise
I’d prefer a long time senior over the designer that gets promoted but wants to keep designing/not manage
I think it should be more normalized. As we keep getting better at creating, why not keep creating instead of switching to managing
Nope. It used to be pretty standard until agencies started throwing titles around to keep people.
