Is anyone worried about layoffs?
Did EY announce anything about layoffs today?
I have joined Capgemini Engineering. coimbatore . I came to know that many employee was fired from job who was in probation period stating that he is non conformance for the project. First thing is in my experience I never seen a company firing an employee in just 3 months after joining stating NC. he was given a totally new project from his skill set, also he was not given a second chance to access his skills. Is this even legal for company to fire without any notice, is it safe to be here?.

How do you deal with harsh feedback?
Use the two weeks to download everything you need to make your portfolio awesome
Can’t stress the downloading point from ACD1 enough. Depending on how long you’ve worked there you’ll have a bunch of stuff. Get the creative, deck templates you like and anything you think may be useful.
Also reputation is everything, it happens in this industry just ask anyone who’s been in it. You’ll run into these people again and how you handle it now may be how you get a job later.
Mentor
Who says you need to be motivated? Like others said, it’s two weeks of paid time to work on your portfolio.
Remind yourself that even though leadership may have decided against keeping you, the people you work with directly (producers, project managers, account people, strategists, fellow creatives) continue to work alongside you. The impression you leave on each of them could make a drastic difference in the way your career pans out
Yes, don’t burn bridges! Having these contacts in the future will only benefit your career. You make look to them for advice on future projects or work with them again in the future.
Get your website up to date.
Don’t. Screw em. Steal your weight In Office supplies and use the time to update your site.
Yeah fuck em. Grab everything you need, work 9-5 and nothing more.
The fact that they're informing you ahead of time is a good thing. This will give you time to get your stuff you'll need to find a new job in order. But it would be smart to use your remaining time to help out and do the best you can at the job you currently have.
A number of years ago during an economic downturn, I was given a month's notice and only used the time to finish up what was on my plate and take care of my stuff (after all, I thought, they told me that my job was to find a new job) while a fellow employee continued to take on new assignments. I was out at the end of the month, while my colleague continued there for at least another six to nine months. And given the state of the current economy, that can make all the difference.
This industry is a small world. Everyone knows everyone. Make the best of it, finish what’s on your plate the best you can, while getting your book in order. Get advice from people you respect, and yes focus on relationships. Years ago, I got a job after getting laid off when someone in the place I left knew someone who needed help.
Keep your chin up too. It’s an unprecedented time and know it’s not because of your work.
Stay motivated to work after you've been let go? Listen to yourself man. Get a grip. They restructured/made you redundant. Keep a professional manner but don't try ffs. Put in the required effort as your contract dictates then leave and never look back. Don't forget a job is a means to an end and nothing more.
Focus on your relationships and friendships. That’ll matter. The actual work won’t.
Coach
Weird. As in you will get laid off in two weeks or you’ve already been laid off, but been given two weeks notice?
I got two weeks notice but it was during quarantine and I didn’t hear from anyone again. So I didn’t work.
Ya don’t. Grab your shit.
Get on the dole the minute you are eligible. It takes a while for unemployment checks to process. And the extra $600 runs out soon.
As I was once told, your job ended the moment you were notified. Work on getting your next job, building your portfolio, reaching out to your industry contacts, securing references, and the like. Your job now is getting a new job.
Do you like the people there? If you do then just continue to be a great person and get yourself ready for a job search. Don’t burn a bridge. This whole thing is going to pass one day and you may be looking at coming back to this agency in a greater capacity one day. Also, remember that if you do get severance pay, New York State pro rates that severance pay and you are not eligible to collect unemployment until that time passes. Meaning that if you get two weeks severance or whatever, you can’t collect unemployment until that time is up. Even though you no longer work there. You have to declare severance when you apply and it’s seen as weekly income. Some agencies still say you’re eligible for UE right away. You can apply, and you need to check in weekly, but you don’t receive benefits until your severance runs out. Just NYS as far as I know. It’s a relatively new rule.
