A clear indication the labor market is still in an employer cycle is the comp ranges posted on various roles being lowered from just a few years ago. Companies are trying to scale down their comp bands despite the cost of living still rising. This is nothing more than taking advantage of the more desperate job seekers. They certainly won't be getting top talent for these roles.

Example: I saw a firm post a Director of CAS role, not a Controller, at $20k less than what I make as a Controller.

Just venting. College friend (same ethnicity but came to US with family as a kid) told me she might get a new job offer w a smaller firm, 50% pay bump. We currently work at comparable big firms but her pay is already higher than mine (hers include stocks, mine doesn’t). We did equally well in college & I know I’m just as smart. Can’t help but feel like my career’d have been much better if I did not need sponsorship. Smaller firms don’t sponsor so I work at a big firm but pay isn’t great 🙄
