What’s a fair salary increase after a year of inflation?

If you know you're killing it, then ask for what you believe you deserve. The worst that can happen is they say no and offer you a little less. What do you think is fair considering your performance and inflation?

like

Should be 10-15% ideally if you are performing.

like

I'm not sure how to answer this - fair in the current market? Most places aren't going to match the rate of inflation which is over 9%.

I already feel like I’m well underpaid for “market value”. When I accepted the position I negotiated in writing that we would revisit my pay structure in December and I am trying to figure out what is fair to ask with inflation, strong performance, and also market value.

After a year of inflation I don't think it's appropriate to ask the company for a raise. The employees didn't suffer in the inflation alone. Companies too. It needs to be determined first if providing a raise is a viable suggestion.

Even if the company has already hit/surpassed their quota for the year. Yes, the company number.

I feel it’s more than fair to ask for a raise—especially a cost of living raise if we as a company are not in a recession and I know that I’m smashing my performance.

As a curiosity, when saying fair, I'm assuming you mean a reasonable salary increase for you? There are multiple things to consider. Depends on the industries, the company's growth, the value you are providing, and the company's revenue. I am one of the first to want a salary increase because of inflation. Still, if the company gives everyone a 15% increase in the following years, they would have to correct it by firing others because it is not that the company is making 15% more in profit or revenue. Of course, it doesn't hurt to ask. I was always against an average 3% raise because that is nothing for the amount of work you put on. It would depend on your value-added! It is different if upper management has increased their bonus due to inflation and you are still being paid the same or given a mediocre 3% raise. Then I see a big problem! Studies suggest that the gap is growing between upper management and other employees regarding compensation, and maybe this is one of the reasons! They would always say, "We are a family," until it came to raises. Then it stops "the family speech."

It depends on the current situation of the company. An increase might be fair for employees but not for the company. And vice versa.

That really depends on so many things. I would say no less than 15%. Even then it would really depend on what I had done over the last year.

I saw some sales managers discussing hiring strategies, especially for entry level roles (e.g. SDR, BDR).

One strategy that came up was having the applicant do 90 minutes of cold calling into real prospects with the hiring manager coaching.

Lately, I've been hearing a lot from my peers about how sales isn't a real profession.
I work at a tech startup and it mostly comprises developers. They can't stop emphasizing their importance in the food chain and I can't figure if I'm too humble or they're too arrogant.
This yapping comes from people I've known since college. I have successfully blocked all such negativity but wanted to know if anyone here has faced such scenarios.

Asking for a friend:
My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.
