A client wants me to present findings they helped manipulate. It’s not technically false, but it’s definitely misleading and they’re pushing hard on the narrative. My boss told me to focus on the story and not overthink it. But my name is on that deck, and so is my credibility. Would you risk your professional reputation to keep a client happy? Where do you draw the ethical line in consulting?

You work for the client, so what they tell you to do and document all messages, etc as a fail safe.

We deal with this quite a bit. It depends on the scenario on what I’m comfortable with. In one instance the buyer wanted me to not call out some obvious risks. I did not do that and escalated. A few months later that company was breached. In other instances I just softened the language to try to meet asks half way.

It might be tough, but try to meet them halfway without compromising your integrity.

This can come up in M&A with some buyers. It depends on the scenario on what I’m comfortable with. In one instance the buyer wanted me to not call out some obvious risks. An important question is: if something goes wrong who will be blamed?

PDM at Deloitte and recently told my current PM that I receive an offer to be on a different project and would like to rolloff my current project. They told me they have to check their WOA before they can confirm my last date. Is this a legit reason or something they made up just so I can’t leave?

I work heavily in AWS and am looking to learn another cloud platform. I have zero knowledge of azure and gcp and would like input on which to learn. Azure would make sense since its the second largest in terms of market share, but GCP seems far more interesting and technically challenging with things like Kubernetes and BigQuery.
