A lot of people treat retail and hospitality as a stepping stone. Still, the skills you build, including communication, leadership, crisis management, and emotional intelligence, are genuinely transferable to almost any industry. Have you ever leveraged your experience in this space to pivot into a new role or field? What was that transition like?

I haven’t made the jump, but I see customer service as one of the best transferable skills. You can get started in almost any industry at an entry level with that. Everyone should have to work in retail or hospitality. Firmly believe the world would be a better place!

I agree, customer service is one of the most transferable skills. Dealing with people every day really builds communication and problem-solving skills.
Do you think other industries value those skills enough when people move out of retail or hospitality? 🤔

I've known of people who pivoted into other areas of sales and I would like to do that at some point. I'll occasionally check out job listings and consider applying but I haven't gotten serious about it yet. It is a goal I've got for myself within the next few years.

That makes sense. Retail and hospitality give you a strong foundation in sales, so transitioning into other sales roles feels like a natural next step. Sometimes it just takes that moment when you decide to seriously explore it. What kind of sales roles are you most interested in moving into when the time comes?

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important. I hope this nostalgia goes away soon.
