Hello Deloitte 🐠 20 YOE. Have referral for a content and marketing M role in cybersecurity -- the focus of my career pivot. Submitted my application today, but my referrer isn't in Cyber. Interested to widen my Deloitte Cyber network to get my resume in front of a human, since ATS has no vision or imagination. If you're willing to connect, please DM. So far, made it several interview rounds into roles with EY and Accenture. Optimistic, but want to be as proactive as possible. Thanks!

I hadnt heard this theory so I dont have an opinion lol
No there are a lot of difference. China is trying to expand its influence, but it’s mostly using its economic might rather than military conquest.
Japan was in a far more precarious position and reacted aggressively back then as it was surrounded by colonies and the US (see the Hull note on Wikipedia).
China on the other hand isn’t really facing an existential threat. It’s rivals in Asia (India, Japan, Vietnam, S. Korea) are also huge trading partners.

Educate us on how they are similar.
I’m going to take that as a “not similar” since I doubt you genuinely want me to type up a textbook
Pro
Don’t think they will develop the same. Japan tried to fit in with the European powers but discovered they’d never be part of the club. China has always seen itself as standing on its own.
At the turn of the century Japan was a rapidly modernizing nation. Now its in a state of stasis, potentially decining slowly
China on the other hand was an empire falling behind. Now its a nation catching up the the number one power.
Unless I am missing something they almost seem like in opposite ends of the spectrum.
