About 2.5 years / 10k miles into my current Volvo 3 year / 36k miles XC90 lease. Debating whether I buy the car or turn it in. Like the car (but not madly in love with). What would you do? What other factors would you consider? Definitely need a 7-seater SUV. Alternates would be leasing or buying another (e.g., Audi Q7).

You'll have what 12k miles on it at the end of the lease? Averaging one tank of gas a month? I'd get the cheapest thing you can...if the buyout is good on the Volvo, just buy that and pass it down to your great grand kids

The Audi Q7 or the BMW X7 would be great alternatives. I'd suggest doing a test drive for both.

This. My (older) parents have actually owned all three over the past few years. XC90, Q7, and X7. The Audi and BMW are head and shoulders above the Volvo

Turn it in get something else, if you don’t love it. SPA Volvos have horrible long term reliability and resale value

like

Interesting. Never had a volvo before this one but thought overall longevity and cost of ownership was better than other comparable luxury models.

I would turn it in. I don’t know how much an extended warranty would be, but I look at how complicated my car is and as much as I love it, I will definitely turn it in won the lease expires in three years.

I mean my car is a 2024 and I’ve already had to have the sensors for the convertible top replaced and a sensor on the driver’s side window. The transmission needed new software on the first service I had done. That stuff is all included with the warranty and the service pack, but once the warranty is up? I look at my car and just think, baby you’re going to be a nightmare…

Personally think the xc90 is best in class for the 7 seat mid size suv when you balance comfort, features, reliability and safety record. We have a 22 for hauling the kids around with 35k miles on it, my parents have a 17 that is at 150k miles with no issues. My neighbor has had an X7 for a year - it’s a nice car when it’s drivable but it’s been shit for reliability - seems like he has a service loaner in the driveway more often than his car

Grand Cherokee L is similar size and 3 rows. I’ve leased two. The first one had no issues. Second one has been to the dealer a few too many times. You’ll find great deals since Stellantis is desperate to move inventory.

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. Thoughts on making the shift?

911 Carrera S vs GTS

I really want to do a low key spec on my next car but it’s almost impossible to spec the GTS without black wheels/accents turning it into a more aggressive looking car.

Thoughts on if the GTS in a 7 speed is more engaging than the S enough to justify the compromise in wheel selection?
