I froze my eggs a few years ago, so can speak to the egg retrieval portion! I had few symptoms until the last couple of days. Recommend setting daily alarms for your shots— I had 1 a day at first and the 2 total (1 in morning and 1 in evening). I went to get my routine blood work at the first appt they had each day (between 7:30-8) so I wouldn’t get tied up waiting and didn’t get online too late. Take good care of yourself and best of luck!
Just wanted to send support to you on your journey. Best of luck!
Agree with C1, I did the same. I also was doing the shots alone and very worried about the whole thing, not my cup of tea at all, so sanitizing, organizing, and clearing bathroom space for the sharps container, the meds, alcoholics etc, was really helpful to ease my mind and I read up on how to administer each shot a LOT. I was overall physically fine for the duration but mentally consumed with doing this right and worrying about every little thing. I didn’t end up getting as many eggs as I want and I remember being so upset by that, but it really does shrink in mental space when you get some distance from it. Try to remember that! (Although may be different becuase you’re hoping to get pregnant and I wan just freezing eggs). Good luck!
I made a little organized container of everything I needed to do the shots and it’s really not going to take more than 10 mins a day for the retrieval shots. Timers are helpful. Make your appointments well before you need to be at your desk. Quite frankly — the mental part of it all is the hardest, especially with IVF. If it starts to weigh on you, there are specialized therapists for IVF.
Thank you all so much!! Appreciate all the advice!
