Any suggestions for a physical therapist trying to change careers? Having difficulty because I don’t have experience in anything else except working in an outpatient clinic.

I think you have to convey to the employer your willingness to learn and work hard. I am in a similar boat. I am trying to get a position in subacute care, I feel a big reluctance to hire me, because I haven’t worked in that setting. I got laid off for Covid and I don’t want to return to a private practice. Also dealing with ageism I think.

Every PT looks good on their resume, everyone looks the same. Your interview is what is going to set you apart. You’ve got to sell yourself. Be confident in your skills. Everyone is not out to get you. Don’t make assumptions about other companies. Your perception and what is actually happening could be two completely different things. If you are going into an interview or negotiations thinking negative things about that company, those thoughts are only going to fester.

Difficulty finding open positions in other settings or you think places won’t hire you because of your experience?
Don’t sell yourself short. Specific training can and needs to be done for each setting and your employer will provide that.

Seeking advice either from anyone already working for US GOV or any advice on how to get into it. I’m interested in working for IRS or Veterans with pm work. Any advice?

I also want to help my dad get into a permanent GOV role before he needs to retire, he’s been rejected by gov roles and can only work travel roles with fema, I don’t want him traveling as he’s getting too old and I just lost my mom a year ago. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you find working remotely during this time that you’re having a harder time staying on top of everything that’s going on? With the scattered communication and a boss who hasn’t been as focused and can be hard to pin down, I sometimes think I’m giving 150% but something ends up lagging and I’m just wiped out. What are some of your tactics to avoid missed items and stay active and on top of everything through the Covid funk?

Getting over heartbreak and having a full time job is torture lol. My boyfriend and I just broke up after almost a year of being together. It was such a beautiful relationship but ultimately he just didn’t love me. I love him so much. My mind knows that I deserve reciprocal love and I’m worthy, but I feel physically ill. My body hurts, my stomach is in knots, my head hurts. How is it that I have to mend a broken heart but also meet my billable hours lmao

Additional Posts in Healthcare

I currently work in Healthcare as a respiratory therapist for 10 years. I have been at my job, currently, for a little over 5 years. Alongside my bachelors degree I also have a masters degree in healthcare administration. Although, I am happy with my current position as a respiratory therapist, there seems to be not a lot career growth with where the department I currently work in within my healthcare system. I am wondering what doors/opportunities I have if I were to utilize my masters degree?

How would you handle not getting a lunch break when you are a salaried employee treating patients for 40 hours a week? I don’t get documentation time either, but all notes are to be completed the same day. Some of us have reached out to HR and we’re told to discuss it with the regional director, but the regional director says we’d have to come in early or leave late to block out a lunch break. My commute is an hour each way, so I’d prefer not to make my day any longer. Advice?

It’s a total shift that would really heal my work-life balance, job satisfaction and budget. My only fear is that I would not be using the license and degree that I worked so hard for. I would appreciate any input!!!!
