I took 15 months… time with your baby is sacred; it’s time you won’t get back. You’ll never look back and think ‘I wish I’d raced back to work’.
I took 11 months and wish I took longer. I personally loved maternity leave and it was all fine at work when I came back . You briefly get that same feeling of “Omg, I’ve forgotten how to do my job” but it quickly comes back.
I went back after 6 months but not out of any pressure to do so, I just wanted to split the leave evenly with my husband. Six months off made no difference to my progression, I was promoted quite quickly after coming back. (I realise this isn’t strictly what you asked, but sharing to give another perspective). Congrats!x
This is going to be the most personal decision of all time. Don’t listen to anyone else says and don’t be pressured by your job. Read the book by Lucy Jones called Matrescence. You are about to undergo an amazing transformation in your brain and body, and you just don’t know how you’re gonna feel. IMO at six months, baby starts to get cute and playful.
