I work in Florida where the Parental Rights law concerning gender theory and sexuality in k-3 is currently being labeled the "Don't Say Gay Bill". I find it crazy that so many of my liberal coworkers, even in the social studies department haven't even read the bill and are just buying the low wholesale. I agree that we should leave those choices up to the parents. Do you guys have similar things happening where you're at?

How many times a week do y’all consider quitting. I’m a lawyer by background, my husband is in big law making like 5x what they pay me in big 4, and we work very similar hours. Coming from Manhattan, the difference in diversity is something that stands out to me a lot. I find here, that if I match or go on a date with someone that’s non-Asian, invariably I find that they’re into anime, K-pop, Asian culture etc.

I’m interviewing at Slack and the recruiter is fantastic. She told me to take some time to think about my comp ask but that I should use my current salary at Meta as a guide but to go higher as staying at the same rate won’t do anything for the gender pay gap. I’m thinking of saying that I would like 15% higher but would also love to get an idea of what the salary range for a L6 or L7 marketer at Slack would be just to see if my expectations are in line.

I work with a classroom of Middle School ED students. One student, who I worked with the year before, has changed alot over the year. Last year (pre COVID), she had a good head on her shoulders and I thought I had good rapor with her. But over that period of isolation, she tried to commit suicide.

All year, she was much more withdrawn and ALWAYS on her phone! At the end of the I was 'beat up by her - she really knocked my glasses off.

How should I approach her in the upcoming year?

I'm 32 y.o female with no desire to have kids. However, my parents (especially my mom) keep telling me to have a baby and how abnormal it is "to live childless without knowing a joy of motherhood". Those of you who are now successful but grew up lower middle class or poor how do you deal with the guilt of your parents still working crappy jobs and getting paid nothing. I can’t financially support them yet but I feel guilty. It’s hard to not always think about them or how to help them. I feel guilty when I buy something nice, travel, or just the comfort of working from home. I hide it well but it’s hard when I feel nobody around me relates.

US DOE used same tactic when pushing adoption of the Common Core curriculum.
