After becoming a manager, handling friends as junior staff becomes challenging. Sometimes they expect extra benefits because of friendship, but as a leader, I want fairness, productivity, and a comfortable work environment for everyone. Balancing personal relations and professional responsibility is not easy. Have you faced this situation? How do you manage friendship and leadership without affecting team performance?

The friendship usually survives if they were actually a good friend. The ones that don't weren't strong to begin with. They should be happy for you, not trying to take advantage of the new situation.

I dnt think practically its possible . Where you spend 8 hours of your daily life .you not have a friend

I would set clear expectations early so they understand the type of environment and experience you are trying to create for everyone. It should only help them stay motivated in their career knowing it won’t be any easier for them. Good friends will be supportive of your position if it’s communicated well.

This! I completely agree with this; however, it’s important to be thoughtful when delivering the message so you keep their respect and they don’t think you think you’re now better than everyone

I noticed once “friends” get promoted it’s like they put in a different hat and think that they’re higher than you. Literally watched a buddy I started with get promoted to manager and dude did a complete 180

Thankfully, I haven't had to deal with my friends becoming my junior staff. I was moved to a different team entirely which I actuallyr eally appreciated. I don't think I would like being over my friends as their manager.

Lucky person

You just treat them like they are not friends have mind frame they are staff.

I will try thanks for your advise

Hi friends! I’m looking for resources to help me be successful in a “Functional Lead” role.

The role is in FinTech

Anyone out there in a role like this? Any books. videos or even best practices to share?

I currently work in Healthcare as a respiratory therapist for 10 years. I have been at my job, currently, for a little over 5 years. Alongside my bachelors degree I also have a masters degree in healthcare administration. Although, I am happy with my current position as a respiratory therapist, there seems to be not a lot career growth with where the department I currently work in within my healthcare system. I am wondering what doors/opportunities I have if I were to utilize my masters degree?

Is 7 weeks too early to start thinking I may have made a huge mistake in switching to my current gig? I left the last place because it was overr toxic and terrible W/L balance, for one that seemed to be more “fun” and more realistic hours, only to find that I’ve now been working 12 -14 hours a day and just drowning and feeling like I cannot catch up or catch my breath. Everyone is in the same boat here which is why I’m so overwhelmed so quickly with no support. Is this an immediate red flag?

I just bought an Alexa for my grandma's birthday. Her old radio broke and she's been kind of sad because she can't listen to her favorite music anymore while cooking, so I thought this would be a good pick. She'll have her favorite music right there.

Later today my grandpa tells me she's not been asking Alexa for her favorite music, but for her radio stations instead 😭😂

I have 2nd round (final?) with EY for Product Manager position. I am being told that’s it’s the same as first round but at different level (first was with Manager, this is with Senior Manager). Anyone has any experience on how different these rounds are and what should I do differently to prepare? It’s a behavioral interview.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Is anybody here a notary? And how much are you making from that? Is it a potential side-hustle?

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.

User experience mgr salary? I support six product teams and eight reports. 20+ years experience
