After requesting a promotion, the “under-leveled” employee received the feedback from the supervisor:
1. You need to be more vocal in the large group meetings and speak at the same level with your peers. We will consider the promotion for you next year.
2. You will be sent to a communication coaching plan to improve your business communication skills.
3. There is no promotion reviews till the year-end.

I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role. Everybody says there's exit-ops aplenty, but I find myself with less options and even more picky than I did as an ambitious T2 undergrad student. Where do I go from here?

3L with mostly A’s and B’s. I am having the worst luck trying to find work for after school and my experience working with lawyers has left me completely dejected. I was so excited to get an externship summer after 2L with a small business and IP firm only to get yelled at on the phone a few times for not doing an assignment correctly.
