Optimistic take: the human mind loves novelty and AI basically wants to revert all work to genres which won’t necessarily feel fulfilling. It’s good at pragmatic commerce related creativity because genre and mental shortcuts are assets there. But there will always be an impulsive drive to the new and AI blandness could accelerate that into very new weird places. Maybe. Non-optimistic view: Human attention spans are getting so bad and AI amplifying the targeting and making alright work happen quickly means no one can tolerate disciplining their mind to create or appreciate larger and more complicated works of music or writing and so we just sort get more and more fatigued by anything that isn’t a TikTok track and creative work becomes devalued and esoteric.
The attention span argument is so true
People are already using AI to write, and I'm assuming there are probably already novels written by it (the kind of stuff they sell as ebooks on Amazon, or on other platforms). The AI stuff will be, for a lot of people, good enough. I read recently that half the country can't read above a sixth grade level, so you have to assume a lot of people wouldn't know good writing anyway. So AI slop will suffice.
This is very true
Well, I can say I won’t do much of anything to inspire him in creativity. I wouldn’t NESS say it’ll hinder creative people, but it may hinder creative people‘s ability to find work and make money on their own. As so, many corporations like to take the cheaper way out and use AI instead of paying humans for their creativity. Cause let’s keep in mind all of AI‘s creativity is a mesh of other people so they’re not actually great anything but stealing other ideas so that is gonna be rough for creative professionals
Good point
There will still be people that appreciate what the human mind can do, but am not immune to the fact that attention spans and willingness to commit to something more than 30 seconds to a minute is hard. Honestly that was me for a while, had to get back into reading actual books and taking time with things instead of hurrying through.
