Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? Check when is the bonus cut off date
1) If 1 months salary is not a concern, I would rather take a holiday before starting a hectic job.
2) 1 month typically won’t put you short of any promotion cycle either - though check that once with HR - depends on firm + location. Also, check any prorated bonus cutoff dates.
3) There might be slight diff in projects availability - again depending on location, firm, practice. Eg, sometimes finding a new project later in the year is more difficult
I think most if not all MBB prorate bonus from your start date and there is not cutoff date, and that most if not all do promotion against your months of tenure rather than for example only once or twice a year. Agree with C1 that an extra month off is nice before you start the grind, and that end of year tends to have a slow-down though this is typically Nov/Dec not Aug/Sept. Something else to consider is starting in a month when there’s a smaller start class so that you aren’t “against” as large a pool for projects that will take on a new hire. That’s on the margins though, and if you can swing it, Sept vs Aug shouldn’t be materially different.
Incorrect for McK. There is no bonus at all for the first calendar year if you start after April.

Besides an extra month of pay? No.
Given the current market situation, I’d start on a job sooner than later. You never know when will these firms stop hiring.
Confused - OP you don’t have an offer and yet are trying to decide start dates?
Most folks start in September - imo better to join then with a larger start class - these become your first work buddies - you go to the initial trainings together
