It’s fine. Scaled boutique. Not great not terrible. Staff likes it but isn’t going to get a ton of interesting projects and doesn’t have much differentiated methodology, etc. They’re hiring from other firms and paying a lot at times… not sure how sustainable that is
Would put me at risk of being doxxed. But I know a bunch of boutiques that are or were small… health advances, Putnam, Clearview, clarion, various market access ones, new mom and pops, etc. The only one I think that made a move to a firm is Trinity but they still sell small projects to feed the bench. They all are narrow and took money or got acquired in a bubble market and are some form of ‘strategic market research’ or staff augmentation. I think Blue Matter is a little more insightful staff aug… kind of like Syneos etc.
A firm has these pieces and combines them. My firm is doing that and once you see it you can’t unsee it.
At this point I even consider one trick ponies like SKP and the more modern Clearview to be boutiques if you define it as doing one thing well and not being able to expand that definition into being a set of services that when combined together create synergy.
I heard their WLB is good and that they hired a partner for transactions work which could be cool
