Any thoughts on TikTok and the legal advice on there? Over the past couple of weeks, I've had two clients start emails with "a video on TikTok told me..." It seems like it's really giving people some unrealistic expectations about what they can do and how "easy" some cases are to win.

Ask them to send you the tiktok. From what I’ve seen on there is usually just attorneys talking about the difference kinds of recovery available or claims that can be made.

like

Tell them please don't confuse Tick Tock with my law degree

like

Ask them why they want to hire you and not the TikTok lawyer

Even real lawyers on tik tok give bad advice occasionally. You can't fit the right amount of nuance in tik tok nor limit your views to the jurisdiction you're actually barred in.

I’ve done PI work my entire career for over 10 years. I’ve worked in state and federal courts and I’ve traveled around the country doing MDL work and bellwether trials. I’ve had a lot of success making the idiots I’ve worked for wealthy, but I’m still waiting for a moment where I enjoy what I’m doing. I feel stuck working in dysfunctional plaintiff firms/cultures. I hate this profession/career more and more each year. Has anybody been successful breaking off on their own in recent years? Advice?

Hello All,
I am finishing up my second year of practice as a lawyer. I transitioned to plaintiffs pi work from a boutique commercial litigation firm. I like the work and not having to bill. The issue I am having is managing volume. I have about 150 active files some pre-lit and the rest are in litigation. Cases range in value from very small to low six figures. I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

Anyone know a Connecticut or 2nd circuit case for this rule? I can’t find one to save my life. A defendant generally is liable for all harmful results that are the normal incidents of and within the increased risk caused by their negligent acts. If a defendant's negligence was a substantial factor in producing the plaintiff's injuries, the element of proximate cause has been satisfied and the defendant would not be relieved from liability for those injuries even though another force concurred..
