Anyone else in animation/VFX seeing pressure to lower their day rates this year?

I’ve been in the industry 12+ years and worked with a bunch of big brands. Lately, though, several (US based clients) have come back asking for 10–15% reductions due to budget cuts.

My rate is now down to $900/day, which I’m still grateful for, but I’m definitely watching closely to make sure it doesn’t keep sliding.

Curious if others are seeing the same thing.

Hi background in audit and soc compliance now working for a non-public firm but delivering support to the auditors. Just venting. College friend (same ethnicity but came to US with family as a kid) told me she might get a new job offer w a smaller firm, 50% pay bump. We currently work at comparable big firms but her pay is already higher than mine (hers include stocks, mine doesn’t). We did equally well in college & I know I’m just as smart. Can’t help but feel like my career’d have been much better if I did not need sponsorship. Smaller firms don’t sponsor so I work at a big firm but pay isn’t great 🙄

I am done with my HR round. And said I am selected in Siemens, balewadi, but not yet received the offer letter. Its been a month now They are waiting for approvals. Any idea when will I get the offer letter.

I thought I set some boundaries with my wedding since my fiancé and I are paying for everything. Now I’m getting more comments about why we didn’t invite some long lost cousin or family member… I don’t want to go bridezilla on people but I’m starting to see how it can happen 😂

To those at V25 firms, how do you view your London office in terms of the quality of work we get and overall importance to the firm? Like is there a perception of us being a step down or ancillary to the big leagues of NYC or not? Small firm (my boss, me, & a paralegal). After a hearing I did not handle, boss intended to seek review of the ruling in its entirety. What was communicated to me by paralegal was to seek review of a portion.

Seeking review is now time-barred. Boss is not upset, but this is 1 case & 1 problem. There are other cases & other stories.

How do I talk to my boss about being more present (boss is never in office, has “too many” emails, never answers his phone) without being seen as insubordinate?

I am interviewing at a Production Studio and it’s going well. The majority of my experience is agency side. They mentioned base salary with commission, as they want to see growth in the next 3-5 years. There has been no talk of salary yet. What does a base salary for an EP with commission usually look like in this role? What should I be asking for?
