It’s the graphics for me
Rising Star
Yeah it killed me.
My partner has been playing it non stop and she's absolutely loving it.
For me, it's seeing the graphics. I mostly play on PC and PS5 so playing something like Horizon Forbidden West and then seeing her play ToTK, I have zero desire to play. I really wish Nintendo would put more effort into visual horsepower and graphics.
When Breath of the Wild came out I played it and enjoyed it but we've come such a long way in graphical improvements since then that it just feels so lazy.
I mostly just play story driven single player games so if you've played all the PS heavy hitters like GoW, TLoU, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Spiderman, Miles Morales, and all that you've played most of what I'd recommend lol.
The recent-ish Tomb Raider trilogy is definitely worth a play.
I'm replying Jedi Fallen Order right now before diving into Jedi Survivor. I played the FF16 demo and I plan on picking that up once I'm done with Jedi Survivor. No more turn based so it's a full blown action RPG now which is my preference.
And of course Spiderman 2 coming out later this year is a must play and I'll be getting Starfield as well and dusting off the XSX.
I can't really think of anything that's like Horizon. If a fairly unique game as far as gameplay and story goes.

I found BOTW boring after a while; the combat always felt pointless and a hassle, whereas now it feels fun because you can always make new powerful weapons. Enjoying TOTK much more.
Stamina drain for running was there in BOTW too, wasn't it?
Chief
Yeah, it's pretty annoying by comparison. I think it incentives riding a horse or making a vehicle though.
Build a hovercraft and you never have to touch the ground again
Had a conversation about this yesterday. Have sunk about 8 hours into the game and not gonna lie, pretty bored with it so far. The building mechanics are clunky, graphics aren’t great, I don’t like that the map is virtually the same (other than underground & bits of the sky) and that I have to explore all of it again, going back to 3 hearts and one stamina wheel felt like a slap in the face, don’t find the puzzles as fun, etc.
Charging $70 was a criminal decision lmao
I never bought a Switch, so I'm here waiting for Starfield
Botw personally was lackluster - koroks aren't exactly the greatest content after the tenth, shrines aren't exactly any challenge so quickly lose their appeal, and the overworld doesn't offer much to actually do. Enemies are also the same everywhere and stop being worth fighting due to the equipment problems etc.. etc...The fact eventide island was so praised is actually telling. But even with all that being said, the game was novel, a new take on open worlds and Zelda, so eh whatever.
TOTK does the bare minimum to expand on botw-the new abilities seem like gimmicks really ( what purpose does the hour and a half i spend making some robot serve me if theres nothing to fight besides the same bokoblin camps from the last game), the sky islands besides the starting one are extremely barren of content or visual differences, and the story 🥴... As someone who does play on PC, this felt like Zelda having a go at Gmod, which if you love Gmod great but i was kind of hoping for a significant iteration on the new formula to give me an action adventure game, not Gmod switch simulator.
TL;DR it's not necessarily a bad game, but the content to me is the same busy work from the previous game, and i ignored it all after a couple hours and went straight to the endgame because i couldn't be bothered with the tedium of it all.
