I do not live there but heard its generally safe. The part close to allegheny, southwest germantwn heard is more rough
I studied there, closer to the university and moving towards the river is super safe. Great neighborhood
Moving there in a month! Very excited
East Falls is absolutely beautiful. A little quieter than but close to Manayunk so you can choose how much you want to deal with the drunk 20-something MBA crowd that gravitates there, while still being close enough to enjoy the restaurant, arts and generally lovely daytime scene there.
If you head the opposite way to center city you’re probably not going to want to take the train or Uber in because a) it’s a hike, b) parts of it are real ugly, and c) the interceding neighborhoods vary between “mostly friendly and Ok” to “let’s walk faster.”
If you’re looking for a quieter sort of inner suburb feel with great access to CC, Manayunk, Fairmount Park, and a much easier way to the main line and points west, it’s one of the best locations you can live. I moved from Center City out to the suburbs about 6 years back and if I ever moved back into town it would probably be there.
It's generally a safe neighborhood. Peaceful and quiet. I haven't heard anything bad about or about any violent crimes happening
I’ve lived in EF for three years. Generally pretty great. We’ll occasionally have a run of package thieves and car window smashing but not all the time. It’s overall a great area.
