You should start one. Headcounts may be small for black employees, but we still want and need community building with each other. I know I’ve been very appreciative of ERGs, even at small companies

Useless to me. Typically run by people with no real stake in the industry so they can't help my day to day angst.
Yes yes and yes! No matter the numbers, start one. The people will come ❤️
I started my agency’s first ERG almost 15 years ago and most recently was the executive sponsor of the Black employee ERG. It is definitely helpful for employees - safe haven, networking, feeling seen and heard. However, if the objective is to make real change then it is hit or miss. Really depends upon company objectives and willingness to invest. Over time can be very frustrating when you realize it is just a sham.
However, I am currently at a company (not an agency) where the ERG is taken seriously and company DEI goals are actual business goals. So again, hit or miss, based upon leadership.
