Yes, I desperately want to leave IB

But I also hope it gets better too!

Even on the off chance I do see something that could work for me, good luck getting a call back or anything set up. Which I guess is better than going through a ton of interviews and not getting an offer. Jobs are few and far between out there right now, decent ones anyways.

That has been my experience so far. It’s tough. But at least I am not super desperate.

I haven't been looking very seriously, but that's mainly because whenever I look what I see seems pretty depressing. It's such a strange time, the economy is in good shape by the numbers, but people think it isn't. Everyone is freaked out and expecting a recession that doesn't seem to be coming.

You still have CEOs like Jamie Dimon talking about stagger inflation. It’s none sense. I feel like we are close from companies hiring again. Fingers crossed.

agree the job market doesn’t look great. IB is a rough job but hey, it’s cool to have health insurance!

lol Starbucks and McDonalds offer health insurances too. Nothing wrong with working there. Probably less hours than what I am putting in.

However what im worried is after 2 years would interviewers expect me to have handled a project all alone and acted as a product owner. Thats what i sense once i have 10 YOE, if i switch it would be 6th company, (2 years break due to MBA ofcourse)

I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role. Everybody says there's exit-ops aplenty, but I find myself with less options and even more picky than I did as an ambitious T2 undergrad student. Where do I go from here?

Hi - I’ve moved to Toronto (from Asia) with 5 YOE in Corporate banking + 2 YOE IB/capital markets (7 YOE in TOTAL) working roles in Front Office and financial analysis.

Believe I’d be a great fit as an Associate in the same space at the major banks (RBC, TD, Scotia, CIBC etc) or in PE/ Asset management.

Could someone help by mentioning the salary ranges I can expect?

Also any tips on networking would be appreciated. Thank you!
