I’m so burned out and not sure what to do. 29 in Texas. I am currently a Deli Manager. My experience is in banking, real estate, shipping and receiving, caregiving and the obvious retail. Unfortunately I struggle getting a job due to a deferred adjudication on my record for theft. It was dismissed but it still pops up I have 4 more years before I can seal the record. Idk what I could do and still make a living.

A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? I'm reading this book on boundaries. In the work section it says I should tell my boss that I can't work after 5 PM. Knowing that advertising work commonly goes past 5 PM...would my job be in danger if I said that?

Any advice on how to handle an ECD in charge of your salary who says the only way to get a promotion or even a COL raise of any kind is through winning an award? Not consistently reliable and solid performance. Not keeping the client happy and profitable. “You either win an award, or all ya get is to keep your job.”
And yes, I’m aware leaving is always an option, but eager for any other advice how to navigate.
