Recruiting, sales
I guess I got a laughing response from someone that doesn’t understand how much recruiters can make
Imagine most people would point to MD or similar senior roles in finance, consulting, PE or tech. Top firms a level below (especially PE/tech where that is mid-level).
C-suite at most public companies would also hit that range or significantly surpass.
400k is starting total comp at places like citadel or Jane street. Any BB bank it would be mid vp total comp for many front office roles.
Doctors I believe?
Some on way more
Become a MD or Partner in a consulting firm
Majority of the PE/HF/VC front office roles will get you there
Big tech too depending on role once you factor in RSUs
For consulting, especially at MBB or Tier 2- Pretty straight forward to get there 6-7ish years post undergrad assuming you keep going up as it’s up or out for every 2 years or so.
There are many jobs in banking that pay $400k and more.
Rising Star
Everyone VP and up (~30 years old) in investment banking, private equity, and private credit

Yes, I work in private credit and make $400k cash at a shop that pays below market and am only 30. Currently considering a lateral to another local shop that would pay $600k cash for same role/title
Based on these responses, it feels like everyone is making this kind of money
Nahhhh it’s just finance guys who really like to boast (most of them spend it all and would be poor if they lose their job)
Yes there are many by raw count, but few by percentage.
Freelance. It’s the only way.
