I feel like I don’t trust anyone on either side to have my interests in mind. I’d love for one side to prove me wrong that they actually care about the middle class or teachers in general!

As hard as Republicans have looked for corruption on Biden, the fact that they've been unable to come up with any proof suggests he's really not that corrupt.
But Republican politicians have lied repeatedly to suggest otherwise, and Republican voters seem far more interested in what they want to hear than in what's true.
Best and most effective President ever!!!!!!
Not sure what you're drinking, but it must be some high-octane stuff.
Since there’s no federal pay scale for us all he can do is talk (mumble) about it.
His wife is a teacher, if he says he wants teachers to have raises that is what he will try to do. However, know how laws work. States rights suck , federal law needs to be across-the-board, a teacher shouldn’t make 80,000 in one state and 30,000 in another state that’s absurd.
I wonder if the conversation would include the culture war that is being waged on teachers, students, and parents from the Left.
DEI, gender ideology, and other leftist initiatives are reducing the quality of schools and educational experience for all. On top of that, unnecessary school lockdowns during COVID are still reverberating through many schools.
If you are someone who thinks the above examples haven't been destructive to public education, please take on some humility and understand that much of the country disagrees with you. There is ample evidence that these influences have coincided with a general decline in education in the US. Maybe not definitive proof of causation, but it's not looking very promising for the Left.
Legally, I don’t think he can institute this. Salary raises are up to the municipality in which teachers work along with State guidelines…oh, don’t forget approval from the school board (community) usually needs support for other than cost of living raises. I don’t know how he could control the millage raised in taxes for expenses of each municipality could be negotiated federally.
MI, your comment says a lot about who you are. You do you, I guess.
I think he has teachers interests at heart. I don’t know what he can actually accomplish, but I believe he’ll try
politics. everything in an election year is for politics. think of it this way, open border for 3 years, now blaming Congress for the issue...
Um, yeah, I did. Get your head out of the sand.
Just talk
It’s just political hype. I think he is pro teacher but can’t do much alone. I think at least he will not be a union busting, anti- public school education, teacher hater as the other candidate would most likely be if elected. No need to attack, just my humble opinion.
The presidents thoughts are what’s written on the card for him.
Typical election-year stumping. If Biden is reelected, there won't be any true forward progress on education matters - not from his administration, anyway.
Of course it's for political gain. There's no way the President could unilaterally get teachers a pay raise nationwide. Contrary to what some might think, he's smart enough to know that.
That doesn't mean he wouldn't like to find a way to get it done. He would just need a lot of help from a lot of other politicians who don't seem poised to give it at this point.
I think it is great for anyone to get a degree of any kind! I just don’t want to pay for any degree and don’t want the government to pay for any loan forgiveness. People take loans out knowing they have to repay them. It is the same with a mortgage and car. You get the loan, you pay for it.
but I’m not paying for that mortgage that they are walking away from. What I am saying is that people knowingly take out school loans and as a tax payer I do t want my money paying off someone’s school loan.
Teacher raises are state not federal. He can’t do anything about education.
Vote for the senators and governors in your state. That's where the real truth lies.
Why would anyone want to pay for someone else to get a masters degree? Not me! You want any degree, pay for it yourself.
There are US states the encourage and some demand a masters for teachers in the first 5 years, such as new york state.
And by the way, a masters degree in education for teachers includes a host of special ed classes teaching strategies for the significant number of people with dyslexia, even a mild case such as I have been diagnosed years ago and with proper visual and cognitive exercises created new pathways or more efficient work arounds to allow for more efficient thinking: because of neuroplasticity. Masters programs today,( or you can take these classes on your own) also teach more inclusive types of lesson plans to allow for special accomodations built into the plans, see clast.org
Comments might be for political gain or could be sincere. Remember, President Biden's wife Dr. Jill is a teacher (education is what she has her doctorate in after all). But it's my personal perspective that Biden is making an effort. It's kind of difficult with a divided America and divided Congress to push these things through.
Thankfully, he's got no actual dictator aspirations or to just pass his presidential power to his children like the former guy. He also has no reason to tweet absolute nonsense words at 3 am or start a war with former allies for no reason. I swear I spent so many sleepless nights from 2016-2021 over that and I won't go back.
HSSS -
They weren't just the mean tweets. It was how they tried to do damage control on "covfefe"and acted like it was a cryptic message only a few were meant to understand, it was the lack of respect for people (the mocking of the disabled reporter comes to mind) and institutions (the UK visit, walking ahead of the elderly Queen, etc).
Did he do what he said he would do last term? That should answer your question. He’s of a diminished mental capacity through no fault of his own. It will only get worse. You can’t be happy with foreign affairs, the border crisis, rampant crime with no bail, the escalating prices of gas and food. Our choices may not be great but we need some major changes.

Markets are up
Inflation made a hugh jump and isn’t increasing as fast as it was doesn’t mean prices are down.
Crime is area by area but in many area’s police aren’t making the arrest because of prosecutor’s. Some area police policy is to not come out unless a crime is in progress etc.
Glad your wages are up, you didn’t mention how much. Actual buying power is down for many because inflation is much higher than wage increase. Inflation statistics don’t include
Fuel, food or interest rates, mortgages are up about 80% not to mention rents.
Employment is up but the actual percentage of employment age people working is less than 2 out of 3!
The national debt is over $102,000 per person in the us man, woman or child.
For working Americans it’s currently over $160,000 each
This does not include unfunded social security promises and other unfunded obligations. If you include these it’s closer to $500,000
With interest rates and spending we’re close to an economic death spiral as interest payments consume more and more.
The politically savvy, let’s make a deal politician can ‘ manipulate’ improvements/ benefits.
