I feel like I don’t trust anyone on either side to have my interests in mind. I’d love for one side to prove me wrong that they actually care about the middle class or teachers in general!

As hard as Republicans have looked for corruption on Biden, the fact that they've been unable to come up with any proof suggests he's really not that corrupt.
But Republican politicians have lied repeatedly to suggest otherwise, and Republican voters seem far more interested in what they want to hear than in what's true.

It can’t be across the board. It is about the cost of living in each state.
And the municipalities. Raises effect millage.
That’s good teachers work very hard
All politicians will say they support teachers; And when it comes down to it the richer ones almost always want more tax dollars to goto non-public or private schools where their children go to school… Rather than increasing the number of Private or Charter schools, taxpayers will get much more bang for their buck giving much greater support of PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Increase security with metal detectors, at least one fully armed and vested REAL Police officer walking around when school is open, pay for teachers masters degrees and increase student loan forgiveness, increase formal teacher/staff professional development including more special education training, formal threat assessment team training, get full size smartboards in every classroom, etc…. This kind of support will help our public schools be the best and safest in the world.
Oh and this may work better if we support the US Constitution’s second Amendment which includes the words, “ A WELL REGULATED MILITIA”, and not let anyone who wants to buy and carry it around without having real background checks and no real training… We need more antidotes to violence not catalysts …Thank you
At least one country with very high literacy rates pays for teachers masters degrees, This same country uses portfolio assessments to measure where each student is and creates prescriptives: Finland
They have small class sizes as an integral part of their public school sydtem
The federal government has no way to raise teacher pay. That’s up to the states and/or to the local districts.
Schools have to be willing to pay for expertise and talent. I left a bio research job after getting the NYS-required Masters in education degree for free by cashing in my employee tuition waiver. I went into interviews with two bio degrees, over a decade in clinical research (with a couple of peer-reviewed co-authored papers), and the teaching Master’s and was because of this I was able to get my starting pay boosted several steps as a new hire and boosted several steps again when I went to another district years later.
