I will always tip anywhere I go they are making 15+ but they work hard. You might think all that goes into it is pouring some drinks but it's more then that. The drinks are expensive bc they pay a decent wage they also have amazing benefits for people trying to grow in the world with little to no money. Did you know that starbucks offers free college to there employees. Tips don't make or break their day but it is always a nice bonus when your broke or need to pay for gas.
Everyone has to make ends meet as inflation has taken over so tipping someone a little (lose change) goes a long way especially if you are repeat customer to same location with good service!
Let's give Starbucks the choice then, we walk in, ask them "either I buy my coffee here, no tip, or I take my business elsewhere to get that coffee --choose"

Tipping has always been a thing in coffee shops as far back as I can remember. I typically dont though.

You have always been expected to tip your barista.
I never tip for such things…whatever might be the expression of the person
Lol im not tipping starbucks employees to make my coffee/latte/whatever thats them just doing the basic requirements of their job... if they dont make me wait in line to order and allow me to go sit down at a table/wait in my car and then personally hand deliver my drink to me - ofcourse i'll tip them for that
Simple.
Tip for any service BEYOND expectations.
Tip for positions that are mostly ONLY paid through tips servers/bartenders.
DO NOT TIP for a service AT your expectations which the employee already is paid appropriately for.
Yes. You should tip for any and all services as multiple people are involved in getting you the thing you could make at home if you didn’t want to tip in the first place. Should companies pay their workers higher wages? Yes. But you’re not doing anything to make that a reality, you’re just punishing people who have to work for tips. Kind of shocking how many adults legitimately question this.

Nope. Who even gets the tips at Starbucks? Corporate?
Type here I always tip them, I appreciate their efforts. I did it because they deserve it after all the preps&clean up that they’ve been doings in their shift.
No. I think it’s weird and borderline rude when now you have to choose what to tip or no tip every time you are paying for a coffee.

They have been tipped for 20 years lol. So they didn’t just start asking for tips. Depending on what state you live in, tipped minimum wage can be as low as $3/hour.
If you question it, you’re basically just asking for a rationale for not tipping. You’re either a kind reasonable person and feel for the underpaid guy, especially when the service is great, or you keep asking if you should tip. Just tip them, even if its just $1.
Start with $1
