Any advice for someone about to start a new role remotely and how to deal with the long hours? My new role is going to be more demanding and was wondering how some of you deal with the continual late nights.

Currently going to school for my cannabis certification but I rarely see any jobs that offer cannabis research. I currently work in a lab/greenhouse environment and would love to continue that line of work with hemp/cannabis. Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Any millennials here worried about their parents retirement? My parents are set financially but I’m worried about their lack of hobbies and social life. They watch a lot of news, politics, stock market, and sports. However not much more than that. I feel I’d be fine with that if they were in their 80s or older but they’re early 60s. Last week I had to explain to my child what “politics” (as in office politics) is. My child is going to a new high school and wants to play volleyball. There was a 3 day open “tryout” for incoming freshman for 2 teams. After the first day, she noticed that
1) there were obvious favorites (coaches are not even hiding that fact);
2) some can’t even play and got on the team,
3) some that can obviously play but did not get on the team;
